The prayer of my heart and soul
"Lord, please order my steps today. Make me strong--not for the sake of possessing strength, but to make me sufficient for the crisis moments in my life and in the lives of others who reach out to me. Please keep me close to You and remove all selfishness from my heart. Precious heavenly Father, give me victory."
See you tomorrow
Below is an excerpt from Max Lucado's book, God's Promises for You. His description of parting with loved ones really touched my heart and expressed my sentiments exactly.
It seems that good-bye is a word all too prevalent in the Christian's vocabulary. Missionaries know it well. Those who send them know it, too. The doctor who leaves the city to work in the jungle hospital has said it. Those who feed the hungry, those who teach the lost, all know the word good-bye.
Airports. Luggage. Embraces. Taillights. "Wave to grandma." Tears. Bus terminals. Ship docks. "Good-bye, Daddy." Tight throats. Ticket counters. Misty eyes. "Write me!"
Question: what kind of God would give you families and then ask you to leave them? What kind of God would give you friends and then ask you to say good-bye?
Answer: A God who knows that we are only pilgrims and that eternity is so close that any "Good-bye" is in reality a "See you tomorrow."

Leaping and Soaring

In 5 days I will be leaving to Tchad, Africa to serve as a missionary nurse for 9 months. I honestly feel like I'm walking towards the edge of a cliff; each step brings me closer and closer to it's ledge. Too soon I will have to step off solid ground into the unknown. And when I do I am trusting God will teach me to soar like the eagles with His wings of faith. He has a plan and even though I can't see it I am at peace that He is the one going before me. I am 100% sure this is where God has called me and right now He is asking me to leap out in faith, the wisest thing I can do is jump.
